Day 5 — Martin Luther on Pain
I visited a Lutheran Church for Sunday worship today. A good friend of mine was preaching.
It was different from what I was used to, but very refreshing.
I caught part of a quote from Martin Luther (of course) on the subject of pain. I couldn’t write down the quote quick enough. So I looked it up when I got home.
It seems like Martin Luther said a bunch of zingers on the topic of pain and suffering.
Here’s a few.
A religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing.
Whoever does not know God hidden in suffering does not know God at all.
Prayer, study, and suffering make a pastor.
God can be found only in suffering and the cross.
I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all. But whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.
Thank you Martin.
Just curious… which quote spoke to you most?
Always onward,
